Q&A: I had a dream that I was being raped?

April 18th, 2011 by admin

Question by RavenPhotography: I had a dream that I was being raped?

by the art teacher in my school. This is not what happened in the dream, this is what happened a few months ago.I didn’t sign up or take art last year,& one day when I was alone afterschool the art teacher approached me & ask me why wasn’t in art, I told him I was in band. He told me to come down one day afterschool, He never told me why.I was kind of bothered by that & wondering if I should go one day but when I realised he was staring at me everyday & like watching me walk around with my friends, I decided not to go.He made me feel very uncomfortable. Now my mom wants me to take photography & he’s also the photography teacher. This is what happened in the dream.
It was the end of the last class of the first day of school photography & the art teacher taught it. Everyone left after the bell rang & I got my stuff together to leave & as I began to leave he stopped me I tried to get away [leaving out details] he raped me & as I left he told me I should come after school more often.
What does it mean?
am I just overreacting?
He didn’t rape me in real life, thatwas my dream.
sentences 2-16 is what really happened, and the rest was all my dream.

damn YA and their typing limit.

  1. If this is truly a dream. Chances are that the character in the dream that is represented by the art teacher is actually you as well. Usually characters in dreams are you in disguise. Or, he is a projection of something you fear or something you can’t face.

  3. It’s obvious that this guy is creepy. You feel a large amount of distrust in him and it’s affecting you in your dreams. The way he watches you seems inappropriate. You might not think much of this in conciousness, but when you fall asleep your mind starts to examine this attention he’s been giving you. They’re called nightmares for a reason. Your mind is taking what is happening to you and translating itself into the worst possible scenario. Dreams are good to examine, because they bring out certain feelings you might have, but not realized. I’d stay away from him and his class. If you don’t feel secure awake, you won’t be safe in your dreams. Dreams can help you! Stay away! Good luck and stay safe.

  4. Most people have a natural instinct about others and when our radar sends our big red bleeps then we need to listen. For some folks it is just a feeling for others it is a bad dream…whatever the case the wise person will listen and be cautious. If the person you have a concern about is a criminal then there might be a record….if he isn’t then maybe he is just sending off bad vibes. Whatever the case, regardless of the dream, accusations can not be made without proof and since no one wants that kind of proof then the best thing to do is just try to avoid the person and don’t be hanging around the school, alone, after hours. I realize that after school projects are a must for some but it doesn’t mean you have to be alone, find someone to buddy up with coming and going to functions so that you are never caught vulnerable regardless if it that guy or some other.

  5. Rape is a violation of personal space and a play of power domination with sexual overtones.

Such a cream could have any of the meanings depending on your situation in life, relationships with others etc.. Thus, you have to interpret it yourself. However, here are a few possibilities of why you dreamt this:

    1. Your art teacher or someone else in your life connected with you (represented by the rapist) is trying to put you down or bully you or lower your self esteem. It is possible that this is a controlling person and an influencial force in your life.

    2. It could also mean that whoever this person is, is either trying to dominate you or make you compramise in some way.

    3. The dream could be a warning for you to hold your own and be firm in a situation in which you may be “forced” to compramise your integrity and “soul” and bend before others.

    4. It could also mean that your aura clashes with that person or that that person has a negative influence on you and you’ve not yet realised it. That is why you’re uncomfortable but you have no rational reason for being so in real / conscious state. May be you feel too self conscious in his presence especiall;y if he’s too critical

    5. It could represent your inability to control a situation and compramise under pressure. You feel the need to escape from a situation in life in which you feel “trapped” and you fear losing youeself before you’re able to do so.

  7. It is probably your apprehension of this guy, translated into a more explicit series of events in your dream. You think he’s creepy, he makes you uncomfortable – the dream seems to have played out a “worst case scenario”.

Rape is one of the most complete violations that one person can inflict on another person. It seems to me that your description of how you feel about this guy and the situation, while un-nerving, doesn’t quite translate into the horrible situation in your dream. Are there other things in your life you are concerned about, things outside of your control that could have a bad effect on you? A subconscious concern about something else could be manifesting in this scenario.

And don’t judge the art teacher too harshly :) in real life he’s just a bit creepy – not a rapist!
