Question by Wolfe: What can I use in a sentence to replace “such as”?

I have “such as” being used to frequently within a paragraph. Do you know of any other variation I could use. here is the sentence:

“When the borders of Japan opened to foreigners in 1857 it sparked a massive cultural exchange which prompted artists such as Emile Galle, Felix Bracquemond, Eugene Grasset, Antoni Gaudi, and Theophile Steinlen to experiment with the stylized approach that Japanese art incorporated within their wood block prints.”

  2. Try ‘including.’ But I’d also put commas after ’1857′ and ‘exchange.’

  3. You may replace “such as” by inserting “of eminence like”, or “of distinction like”, or “of standing like”. Don’t you think so?
